Today we had the crew out from Southern Geophysical, who flew all the way up from Christchurch to use their ground penetrating radar systems to scan and detect any concrete and structural issues within the pool.
We are looking forward to seeing the report in the next coming week and are thankful that we have made it one step closer to finding out more information about exactly what we will need to do solve the problem.
In terms of timeframe we suspect at this stage that Mt Eden will continue to be closed for another 4-5months.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we have been investigating our maintenance issue at Mt Eden Swimming Pool.
We initially identified this as a pool leak and after further investigation and remedial work the true extent of the problem is worse than we initially anticipated.
We have been working with Mt Eden Swimming Pool Trust Board (Building Owners) to come up with a plan and find a suitable solution to get the pool opening as soon as possible.
We now have reason to believe that the pool still requires further investigation and will require major repairs. This means that we could potentially have a brand new looking pool at the end of this process.
Unfortunately we now expect the pool to remain closed for the next 4-5 months.

As this closure will be for an extended period of time, we wanted to offer our swim school customers the following options:
Transfer to another facility– all credits and make-up lessons would also transfer with you. Our staff would work with you to find a suitable day and time to attend lessons at your preferred facility.
Hold your space in the Mt Eden program until we re-open – all credits and make-up lessons would remain on your account for you to use once we re-open and you will not be charged to hold this space for the duration of the closure.
