| Teaching Staff |
|
We require our teaching staff to be positive about the difference they are making in peoples lives by teaching them to swim.
An ability to work with all ages, but especially children is important. As is enthusiasm for teaching swimming.
Part of the swim schools interview process is a practical session in the pool working alongside an instructor with children. It is important for us to see the prospective instructor in the teaching environment and how they relate with young swimmers.
Once selected a teacher will undergo up to 30 hours of training before working with their own students.
Obviously experienced swimming teachers will require less training and are only expected to demonstrate their skills to a satisfactory level before being assigned to classes.
The training program consists of theory covering the progression through the various levels of skill development, and practical sessions where the teacher is first observing, then assisting and then teaching under supervision.
This allows us to provide as much training as possible so that the swim school and the instructor can feel confidant when they are working with the swimmers. The trainee instructor will be given as much support and information as possible to ensure a high standard of teaching once the course is completed.
Regular in-house workshops are also conducted as part of continuing the swimming instructors education and allow for interaction and exchange of ideas and techniques amongst our teaching staff. The swim school also employs outside consultants to assist in this process.
Teaching staff are assessed each term by both clients and supervisors to ensure that any areas requiring further attention are addressed. |
| Lifeguards |
| Lifeguards are qualified with the National Pool Lifeguard Award. |
| Roles include: |
- Pool supervision
- Customer service
- Retail sales
- Concession and membership enquiries / sales
- Cleaning
- Maintenance
- Swim school enquiries and bookings

| Most Lifeguard positions are part time and tend to suit tertiary students or secondary employment. Other positions are both part and full time positions. |
