43 Laser Mt Eden Athletes competed over the weekend at the Auckland Winter swimming Champs. In what was a tough weekends racing, the Laser swimmers did a great job, coming away with a great haul of medals, personal best times and two Auckland Age records (Gabby Faamausili 100 Back and Samantha Brown 100 Fly).

From a coaching point of view we were very happy with the weekend, because we weren’t rested at all. The format made for some testing schedules which was the perfect start to the next 6 weeks of racing for all these athletes.

Monday at training we saw some very tired athletes which is a good sign of effort put in, and made the results even more pleasing.

We are looking forward to the next few weeks training and racing and improving on performance as we go. The Main focus this winter is Age group Nationals, Qld State champs and NZ Secondary School Champs in August
